Noah, Twenty-one months old

Loving his curls!
Finally(!) getting more toofers...

Too stinking cute!

Mommy LOVES this shot from the last Upward soccer game.

Man on a mission...probably nothing more than to seek out any Gatorade bottles hoping to consume "big juice" as my cutie sis called soda as a child.

Brothers, off to church, March 4, 2012

Dog-dog is in tatters. Check out the strings!

LOVE Noah's "checking out my big brother" expression here...
Typical Noah "DON'T Touch me!" expression and accompanying screech...

Noah, eighteen months

Dunno why, but Noah reminds me of Herbie, the elf on Rudolph clay figures, that wants to be the dentist.
Love his little side curl, hair flip...
Chubby cheeks, pointy chin...
Yummy boy...

Parie's Mini-Me...

At eighteen months, Noah still has drool spots on his shirts!
Noah is definitely Parie's mini-me in terms of looks, but he is following in Sarah's footsteps with the "egg" on his forehead JUST LIKE his oldest sister had constantly at this age! Charlie even forebade me to let Sarah walk on the paved paths around our apartment complex in Dallas because she was forever tipping over and hitting forehead-first on the concrete. Poor girl never NOT had an egg on one side of her forehead or the other. If she was out of the stroller, Sarah had to stay in the grass which was a-okay with her!
Noah still doesn't talk. But, hey, if he is truly like his siblings, why would he? They didn't talk much before two either!

A typical Noah expression:
Our 17 month old loves to laugh! He "runs" around doing laps looping through the kitchen, dining room, den, and back down the hallway to the kitchen. He giggles all day. Fletcher and Sarah especially love playing with him right now. Both of his oldest siblings give him special attention everyday, catering to his favorite activities and taking care of his every need. Fletcher is often getting Noah set-up to play with his singing Elmo and other musical toys. Fletchie also insists that only he can get Noah up from his nap when he thinks Noah is due to wake up.
Sarah is always scooping her littlest brother up and twirling him around, tickling him and giggling with him. She is quick to help him by changing his diapers, getting him dressed, and playing games with him. Tommy likes that his little brother is now able to "chase" him around the loop of the first floor rooms. They run giggling chasing each other while Tommy purposely bumps into Noah knocking him down repeatedly.
Noah doesn't have the full-blown Tommy pterodactyl screech that his bigger brother had at this age, but he does screech quite a bit to get what he wants. One of the things we hear Noah screech for the most often is cereal! Noah is JUST like his bigger brothers in that the boy puts down some SERIOUS cereal every morning and would eat it for snack any other time of the day, as well.
This is the exhausted state that Paris was in just 10 minutes after I picked her up after her slumber party with Rachel. She was asleep within 15 minutes of walking in the door.
The kids just barely tolerated me taking their picture after church on Sunday. It caused Paris to dissolve into a pool of tears. Within a few hours, poor Parie woke up from her nap with a stomach virus, her second in three weeks. Luckily, three episodes later she was feeling much better.

Noah, sweet boy, just watching his big bro painting

Sometimes, when you are the little guy, you just get to stand there and watch all the fun!

Not wanting to forget...

the sight of Noah doing his "wounded veteran" scoot around every square inch of our house. He was walking by Christmas day (16 months old), just like Charlie predicted. Noah didn't use walking as his preferred mode of transportation until he was 16 and a half months old. By the second week of January, he was walking everywhere instead of scooting. He was initiating the walking on his own and not just cruising between objects and along walls anymore. He surely was pleased with all the fuss he got from his six family members going absolutely bonkers cheering for him when he chose to walk anywhere!

the day I unloaded and reloaded four complete cycles of dishes in our dishwasher. And this was a normal day. Nothing unusual going on. Ringing in my ears was my mom's advice from before I got married, "Find contentment in the everyday stuff. Like washing dishes." I quickly found contentment in that I had a dishwasher- what if I'd had to do these by hand?! How DID Jen do it all those years without a dishwasher in Ventura?

Noah's first word, "Go." Not clearly pronounced by any stretch of the imagination, but still clearly his first word. "Go." Like time to GO, Mom. Like outside now, Mom. Let's go! Time to GO. How appropriate for a Colgan baby. Like Gammy's always said of our kiddos, "Outside baby." Noah, yet another "outside baby" who wants to be anywhere on the other side of that door. Noah sits near and/or pats both the front door and the kitchen door leading into the garage as he mutters, "go." I have to say, Noah probably acquired this word from me addressing him with, "Ready to go? Let's go on a car ride. Time to go, buddy." In fact, when I first heard him mutter, "go!" in reply, I wasn't sure if he'd just said "car." Weird that "go" and "car" in baby talk could sound even remotely similar, but Noah had me stumped. At almost seventeen months, it sure seemed like my fifth child's first words were, "Go! Car." Wow, really? "Go," huh?!

Noah, 15 and a half months (Dec.11, 2011)

I had to get a tushie shot! I love me some bunners!
This is a classic Noah expression. Charlie and I provoke him daily to try and get him to do his, "uh, Uh, UH!" face with round, open mouth and wide eyes. He usually does this expression when he thinks there is something fun and exciting going on around him. It is often followed by the chubby finger point indicating what caused him to do the round OH-shape with his lips.
Noah had fun today scooting around the VIP box at the Pepsi Center in Denver. The popcorn treasures on the floor were just as captivating to him as the Toy Story 3 on ice characters skating around in front of us.
Noah is quick to smile and engage with his family.
This is such a great Noah expression. We all love when he gives us this smile! Even better that the camera caught those two bottom toofers.
Another version of the excited "Oh!" face.
More smiles for his Momma.
Loving his cheeks and lips in this one. Noah loves to carry that loofah stone around, even outside the tub (Momma realizes how gross this is and returns the foot scrubbing stone back to the tub once he's caught toting it around!)
Kissable baby!
Noah lovin' him some ipad (he never gets to be near it but sees everyone else in his family with this "treasure" so he felt really proud today when he could swirl his chubby finger over it like the big kids do and no one was there to stop him!)

It was awfully quiet...

This is how I found the boys when I went to investigate why it was so quiet.

The big kids told Tommy that he'd made Noah look like a pilgrim.

Descending the stairs with confidence at 15 months!

Noah taught himself to go down the stairs in a day. He went from sitting at the top of the stairs in the loft playroom and saying, "Ah. Ah," until someone came to carry him down (usually sweet Parie!) to scooting down both levels of stairs all by himself backward just like I would want him to do it had we taught him! Way to figure it out safely on your own, sweet fifth baby!
Oh yeah, when I caught him coming down on his own without any help, he was also carrying wooden drumsticks with him.
Here he paused long enough to bang on the stairs for a minute with his prized possession.
Here he seemed to reason that now he was close enough to the bottom to turn around front ways.
As an aside, I loved how Parie would drop what she was doing midstream to race up the stairs to carry Noah down when she heard his first little, "Ah. Ah," call from the loft.

First Chilly Day (Oct.17) of Fall 2011

Well, besides our snow day on Saturday, Oct. 8th when we got two inches of snow in the morning. The bright sunshine had melted it by that afternoon, though!
Sarah was SO excited to take Noah out to play in the leaves with him. Super cute sister, that Sarah girl!
Love these pictures with the yellow leaves of our front yard tree in the background as Sarah and Noah stand in our doorway.
