Sibling Photos, April 2012

Typical Noah expression

Sarah is so sweet with Noah.

Love how his siblings can make Noah laugh.

Tom's stance is just how he runs, toes out.  It is so stinkin' cute to watch him run waddling along with his toes pointed out to the sides.  I've tried to coach him to keep his toes forward when he runs but to no avail.

Fletchie still struggles when I ask him to "dress up," though we've definitely found some compromises we both can agree on, luckily!

Love TeeTom's tie shirts from Tia & Tio.

Cheesy Tee!

DogDog in tatters, Noah sporting the white loafers!

My sons' faces crack me up in this shot!

You know you're the mom of big kids when...

they run around the house giving shoulder rides to each other!

This is the latest way that Fletch loves to entertain his youngest brother.  Noah thinks it is super fun to get these special rides around the house from his Fletchie.  Fletcher is super willing to help Noah when his younger brother is struggling to entertain himself...he will throw balls with him, take him for a walk up and down the sidewalk, get him set up with some interesting toys, etc.  Yeah for great big brothers!

Colgan Boys (Mid-March 2012)

A chin tuck expression like his big sis, Parie...
Just turned 4 Tommy...
The curls of the boy, Noah, at 19 months and proud big bro, so very fond of his babiest brother, Fletcher, who just shows such compassion and tenderness to Noah it melts me...
Because a Momma loves an opportunity for a booty shot...

Parie's Mini-Me...

At eighteen months, Noah still has drool spots on his shirts!
Noah is definitely Parie's mini-me in terms of looks, but he is following in Sarah's footsteps with the "egg" on his forehead JUST LIKE his oldest sister had constantly at this age! Charlie even forebade me to let Sarah walk on the paved paths around our apartment complex in Dallas because she was forever tipping over and hitting forehead-first on the concrete. Poor girl never NOT had an egg on one side of her forehead or the other. If she was out of the stroller, Sarah had to stay in the grass which was a-okay with her!
Noah still doesn't talk. But, hey, if he is truly like his siblings, why would he? They didn't talk much before two either!

Noah turned 5 months old!

Tommy is sporting the classic "Sah-dya's" (Gammy's way of saying Sarah when she was Tommy's age) egg on his forehead from a recent bump. Poor Sarah used to have an egg on her forehead all the time when she was around two. Tommy thought it was funny that it was called an "egg" and his siblings teased that they were gonna eat it. He kept telling me, "Mommy, eat my egg!"

Our precious Noah loves to laugh, smiles easily and eats up the attention of all his siblings. They are quick to ask to hold him and often cart him around the house to have him "join" in the fun they are having! He is being "trained" by the kids to sit up. They count how many seconds he can sit unassisted before toppling backwards on the bed. This seems to be a fun game for all the kids! They get quite proud of him when he breaks one of his sitting records! Sarah has taken it upon herself to do "school" with him as often as she can (most days!) She reads to him and "teaches" him letters, colors, sitting, and other important sister stuff! Noah is edible right now with his wrist, arm and leg rolls. He is so cute and chubby. He loves to be smooched on and laughs when we kiss him playfully on his neck or cheeks. Zerberts on his bare belly (or "sherberts" as we fondly call them after Sarah's little girl word for them) are a favorite way to make him laugh right now.

Parie LOVES her baby brother!

Paris absolutely loves serving her brother! She cuddles him, changes his diapers (!!) and sings to him her own made-up lullabies. She claims, "Noah loves my songs!"

Sibling Love

These big sisters LOVE their little Tom-Tom! Paris and Tommy are BIG bath buddies. Tommy cracks me up saying his version of "bath" (which sounds similar to his word for ball b/c it is just the first two sounds...said really loudly, "BAH!") After Tommy proclaims, "BAH!" he tilts his head sideways and looks at Paris questioningly, very clearly asking her to join him using just his body language! He may not have many words, but the boy can sure make himself understood using his body! He daily uses pats and points in the most hilarious ways to ask us questions. Most often, he is asking permission to do something like go outside or eat something he's not sure we will permit. His latest feat was communicating that he wanted to push the chair around from the table to the sink to play "water." He does everything independently, from collecting the plastic cups and strainer to pushing the chair into position to turning the sink water on and off. There is NO shortage of water on the floor and counter when he is done, that's for sure. He LOVES this activity, though, and I'm so glad he asks permission before commencing!

Paris is often found side hugging Tommy and kissing the top of his head, usually two times in a row. She said a few days ago, "Mommy, I'm SO glad we have Tommy! He's SO cute!!" And Mommy says, "You're SO cute too, Paris!! I'm glad we have you!!" :) Those are the comments that I want to treasure that my precious kiddos surprise me with at the most unexpected times!

The kids love Pet Shops!

The kids have been into the Littlest Pet Shops for a few years now and have quite the collection going! They have had SO much fun together creating all kinds of story lines for their pets' lives, as well as making homes, villages, etc. for them to live in. We love that our children can play so well at make-believing and enjoy doing it together!

Some things to know about Paris

Paris sucks her right hand, (middle of the) pointer finger knuckle. She has since birth. (I've only met one other person who said she sucked her pointer finger knuckle, my good friend, Laura McBride. She did it into elementary school.) Paris still sucks it around the house/car when she is tired and always in her bed for nap/bedtime.

Paris has never truly been attached to any one blanket or stuffed animal for more than a season but she is very attached to her pillow. The interesting thing about this attachment is it has NOthing to do with the pillow inside the case. I could change the pillow daily and she'd probably not notice. She just loves to carry a pillow with her as her attachment item, like around the house if she is overtired or in the car (always). Now, some pillow cases she grows more fond of than others. She's been attached to a variety of colored pillow cases over the years but mostly she is attracted to the degree of softness the pillow case has. Now that we are settled into our home and she has her own fushia sheets (of course, she picked "bright pink" for her sheets because we all know Paris has ALWAYS loved pink! remember she used to answer people who asked what color hair she had, "I have pink hair."), she is always lugging a pink pillow around with her!

Paris often sleeps naked (like her other siblings, but esply Fletcher. Sarah has mostly outgrown this habit.) Jammies for Colgan kids are mainly for the morning! The complaint about jammies while in their beds is "I'm hot!" So, beside their beds their jammies lie until they wake in the morning and don them for morning playtime.

Paris has loved all things princesses for three years now. She loves Barbies, too. Well before Sarah could have cared two cents about them, Paris was make-believing husband and wife with them. Now they love to play Barbies together. Sarah seemed to finally start liking them because Paris was so into them when we lived in Ashburn. Sarah was probably a first grader when she started playing with them, but Paris has had a thing for Princes and husbands from the getgo. The kids now have three boy Barbies they share and this has made the Barbie playtimes between the three big kids super fun. Even Fletch will join in the fun with the girls, but just for awhile, because after a time...his Star Wars figures win out and he abandons the boy Barbie to play his games in the same vicinity as the Barbie games but no longer participating with his sisters. (I do remember his quote when we lived in Ashburn, "Mom, I have NOone to play with! The girls are ALWAYS playing with the Barbie house, and I don't want to play dolls!")

Paris and Fletcher LOVE to play games together before everyone else wakes up. They have most recently been playing Monopoly in the 7 o'clock hour of each day. They also play checkers, Memory Match, Uno, Go Fish, Old Maid, etc. They love to wrestle and rough house, too. They know that is not allowed in the early morning, however. They inevitably wake the whole household if that rule is broken! Hmm, wonder why? Who do you think is almost always in tears at some point during the wrestling matches?!?! Poor Paris cries like six times a day. Not always from wrestling boo-boos but from one kind or another. Her little head is often getting bumped on this or that, her hair is pulled (by Mommy or Tommy...me b/c I don't "brush like Gammy!!! which means brush really, really softly and don't pull at all!!! ....Tommy b/c he just likes to pull her hair for some attention-getting reason.)

Paris' favorite animals are horses (surprise, surprise!) Her favorite food is raw spinach dipped in "white sauce" which could be Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing. She loves chips and salsa but mainly the salt she puts on the chips! She is still loving Mac 'n' cheese, pears, yogurt and GUM!The girl is obsessed with gum. Loves PINK gum, esply!

Paris loves to read at naptime the Mommy Daughter devotional book with stories of cartoon girls who either really messed up disobeying or did something special that was pleasing to God. By far and away, her favorite book. She also likes anything princess related (of course!) and Eloise, esply Eloise in Paris, and Curious George and Fancy Nancy (which was her 5th bday party theme!) She is now interested in Kaya, the American Girl stories, b/c she got her first AG doll from Gammy when she turned 5. It felt very much like a rite of passage to her when she got her "very first American Girl doll"-what she kept saying to me over and over the day she opened it! That's what having an older sister does...she'd heard the AG stories for a few years now but never had her own, just a possessive older sister's to look at from afar!
